To all members of the Paramount Elementary Community,

The Executive committee of the Paramount Elementary School PTA welcomes everyone to the 2010-2011 school year. We have already started planning activities and projects to enhance the educational opportunities provided by the staff at Paramount Elementary. Many of the activities will be familiar to families that have returning students and we invite all new members of the Paramount Elementary Community to reach out and see what the school and PTA have to offer.

I think that everyone will find that our community just keeps getting stronger. This is all thanks to the open interaction between families, students and staff. Numerous opportunities exist for you to participate in building and strengthening your PTA. Even if you can only dedicate a half hour of your time, you can help. Committees often need people who can make a few calls or write a brief article for the newsletter or website. Larger roles are available as well and there is a support structure in place to assure your success. Let us know of anything you would be able to do and we can have the committee chairs reach out to you. All volunteers are greatly appreciated.

As in the past, our monthly meetings will be held on the 4th Monday of the month at 6:30PM in the teacher's lounge. This meeting is a planning and status meeting and we encourage everyone to attend. Your input and feedback is the only way we can guide the PTA to meet the needs and requests of the community. Even if you can't make them all, attend when you can to see what is required "behind the scenes" to make the PTA function.

General membership meetings are held in conjunction with an activity for the Paramount families on the 2nd Thursday of every other month. Check the calender at the Paramount PTA website for the dates and planned activities. These will be a mix of fun and information designed to help families understand the opportunities and challenges that occur as we guide our children toward their future. In addition to these regular meetings, events like Winterfest the Talent Show are sponsored by the PTA.

We ask that everyone join the PTA to support the programs that are provided through the year. You will receive a form sent home with your children or you can go to the Forms section of the PTA website. The fee is small and you are provided with discounts from many businesses. You can find these participating businesses at the National PTA website. In addition, look for discounts provided to PTA members at activities throughout the year.

These opportunities can only be provided by raising money to support the PTA programs. We continue to try to keep the "fund-raising" to a minimum, while providing value to our membership. Once again, our primary fundraiser will be the Panther Walk-a-thon in late September. This event provides a substantial portion of our annual budget and relies on business sponsorships and individual donations. Please talk to the businesses you frequent and encourage them to be a sponsor. The PTA Executive Committee can send information to the businesses you refer and will follow up with the contacts. We will also be sending home a coupon book that you can purchase or sell. We believe that you will find the book to be a great value and you will be able to get your money back many times over. We will have additional books available if you would like to purchase them as gifts. They are family focused and provide discounts on items you are already purchasing.

As a final note, our community is only as strong as the relationships that are formed between its members. To provide opportunities to form new friendships and grow existing ones, the PTA will have many family nights through the year. These will include movie nights at the school, skate nights, and more family restaurant nights. The feedback we receive from these events is very positive and we encourage everyone to take some time to meet other families within our community.

Here's looking toward a fun and successful 2010-2011 school year and all the rewards that come with a solid community of support for our children. Feel free to reach out to us with your questions, concerns, and thoughts.

The Executive Committee includes the following people:

Feel free to reach out to us wo we can help this school year be the best it can be for you and your student/s.

Sincerely,
Jack Frantz
